Christmas strike at the SNCF: “I’m waiting for a refund of €164″… the 200% compensation is late, the discontent of customers is mounting

the essential
SNCF has promised 200% compensation for customers affected by the controllers’ strike during the end-of-year holidays. These refunds are slow to arrive. Customers are getting impatient, the SNCF explains.

Marius had booked his tickets in advance to spend Christmas with his family in Paris. €164 for a Toulouse/Paris round trip with her 3-year-old daughter. Bad luck the outward journey was cancelled, the return as well. He had to drive there and back.

To date, his ticket has still not been refunded and he has not received the announced 200% compensation. “I try to see on the SNCF site where my file is but either it crashes or I am told that the treatment is still in progress. And by phone, I cannot get an adviser”, plague the 46-year-old Toulouse man.

The deadline “can be a little longer”, explains the SNCF

Requested by The Midi Dispatch, the SNCF recognizes that “the reimbursement period can be a little longer” and explains these delays by “manual processing for a large part of the files”. The railway company says “mobilized to ensure the payment of reimbursements and compensations as quickly as possible”.

Impossible to know, however, how many customers have requested reimbursement and the number of files already processed. SNCF ensures that its customers have “no need to worry” and that all files are taken into account. All files should be processed by the end of February, estimates the National Federation of Transport User Associations (FNAUT).

The social movement had disrupted the parties of 200,000 French men and women.

A voucher valid for one year

Passengers whose train has been canceled due to the SNCF controllers’ strike have until the end of May 2023 to submit their request for reimbursement in filling out an online form on the SNCF website. They will receive a digitized voucher which will be to be used in the following year.
