CI Games Secures Loan to Self-Publish Lords of the Fallen II

CI Games has secured a 28.6 million euro bank loan to fund the final development and global marketing of Lords of the Fallen II, leaving the company’s financial recovery tied directly to the game’s commercial performance. Erste Bank Polska and Bank Ochrony Środowiska arranged the syndicate bank loan, which was secured without issuing any new shares. The Polish export credit agency KUKE is guaranteeing 80% of the loan.

Founder and CEO Marek Tymiński stated that shareholders will keep their full share of the game’s revenue. Tymiński has committed to maintaining his entire ownership stake throughout the duration of the loan. The total credit limit of 28.6 million euros will cover the remaining development, the global marketing campaign, the launch itself, and the refinancing of the group’s entire existing bank debt. The loan matures in August 2027, with CI Games planning to repay it primarily through the sales revenue of Lords of the Fallen II.

Financing and Launch Details

The financing follows CI Games stepping away from an Epic Games publishing agreement in the spring to self-publish the title, which also allowed the PC version to release on Steam alongside the Epic Games Store. In June, the release window was shifted from the fall of 2026 to early 2027 to allow for additional polish and to avoid a crowded holiday season. The game’s Steam wishlist surpassed 100,000 additions in a single day following a new trailer revealed at Summer Game Fest.

Future Schedule and Platforms

CI Games plans to release the next episode of its “Lifting the Veil” series featuring members of the Launch Creative Team recruited directly from the soulslike community. A precise release date and the launch of the broader campaign are scheduled for December. Lords of the Fallen II is slated for release in the first quarter of 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The predecessor, developed by CI Games studio Hexworks and released in 2023, sold over 2.5 million copies and attracted more than 8 million players across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
