CIRA Announces Off-Network Protection for Its DNS Firewall | Informatic direction

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) has announced a new extension to its DNS firewall service. This now includes off-network protection for users who are not connected to their corporate networks.

Designed for use by telecommuters on private and public networks, the ACEI Firewall monitors and analyzes DNS traffic and prevents users from accessing malicious websites. The goal is to protect users against common web security threats, such as phishing attacks. Moreover, it also prevents the spread of malware already present on a network.

The new service extends the function of the firewall beyond the initial network. The cloud service operates without enabling a virtual private network and has minimal impact on system performance. To facilitate deployment, CIRA is also releasing an add-on application that allows content to be filtered outside of the initial network perimeter. It does not require any special equipment.

For administrators, the ACEI firewall includes management features that allow them to configure multiple corporate and public networks. It also has a multitude of systems to monitor the threats it detects. It can manage devices in networks and groups and apply unique policies to different segments.

The service is available on Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS and Chrome.
