Residents of Soyo, in the province of Zaire, expressed, this Wednesday, their desire to see the National Police better equipped with material and human resources, to face the corporation’s challenges in the region.
Speaking to Angop, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the National Police, which was marked today (28 February), some citizens highlighted the need to maintain public order and tranquility in the municipality, having highlighted the fight against cross-border crimes and to crime.
Manuel Zassala, a university student, said it was necessary to reinforce the operational resources of the Border Guard and Customs Tax police, with a view to improving supervision of the river border, along the Zaire River, with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In his opinion, this region has been prone to various crimes, including fuel smuggling, immigration and illegal fishing. In turn, public servant Isabel José considered that there is crime that is creating a feeling of insecurity, especially in peripheral neighborhoods.
He therefore suggested an increase in police numbers, the construction of more police stations and the reinforcement of local policing. For Laurindo José, an operator in the public transport sector, the continuous professional training of staff is essential, with emphasis on those linked to the Transport and Traffic Planning department.
He defended the provision of knowledge in matters of professional ethics and deontology, as well as the Constitution of the Republic (CRA).
In turn, housekeeper Suzana Nkengue drew attention to the need to improve disciplinary measures within the National Police, for whom the behavior of some agents, while on duty, using alcoholic beverages is not at all commendable.
