Vienna (OTS) – “Ilse Helbich was a sensitive voice in contemporary Austrian literature. Having only become an author late in life, Helbich understood how to combine more of life’s difficult challenges with a tactful lightness. Her autobiographically influenced literature took readers on a journey into the past, from which she easily managed to build a bridge to the present,” said Vienna City Councilor for Culture Veronica Kaup-Hasler on the death of the Viennese author.

“I fondly remember our meeting in October last year, on the occasion of her 100th birthday. What remains unforgettable for me is her answer to my question about what she was most interested in in her career – ‘With Wittgenstein, of course!’. Her death is a great loss for the city’s literature and memory. My sincere condolences go out to her family, relatives and friends,” said Kaup-Hasler.
