City of Vienna launches “Cybercrime Helpline”

01 4000 4006 is designed to help people directly if they fear they may have been a victim of cybercrime.

The City of Vienna has set up a “Cybercrime Helpline” was set up. Affected people can get initial information and recommendations for action free of charge at 01/4000-4006. If there are still unanswered questions, the employees at Hotline to the right professional advice center, said digitization councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) on Thursday. The number can be reached on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“Fraud on the Internet is one of the downsides of digitization. With the free ‘Cybercrime Helpline’, we offer a simple and reliable first point of contact that provides rapid support in suspected cases of cybercrime,” emphasized Sima in a press release. “Digital attacks are increasing – unfortunately every third young Viennese has already had experience with phishing Attacks, cyberbullying, online stalking, etc.”, reported the digitization spokesman for the SPÖ Vienna, Jörg Neumayer.

Here, reference is made to the offer of various organizations with professionally trained experts. These include the Internet ombudsman, the Consumer protection of the Vienna Chamber of Labor, the #GegenHassimNetz advice center from ZARA – civil courage and anti-racism work, and the 24-hour women’s emergency hotline of the City of Vienna.
