The battle against bedbugs continues. The Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, announced Friday September 29 on X (ex-Twitter) that he would bring together transport operators next week “to inform on the actions undertaken and act more in the service of travelers”.

The minister’s initiative, “to reassure and protect” in his words, responds to the resurgence of bedbugs in France, reported in recent weeks on trains and in the Paris metro. Between 2017 and 2022, these insects infested more than one in ten French homes, according to a report from the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES), published in July.
Paris town hall demands a plan from the government
For its part, the Paris town hall requested an action plan from the government on Thursday, and in particular the organization of“basics of pest control”.
Videos published in recent weeks on social networks have shown bedbugs on TGV trains, in the Paris metro or in the waiting area at Roissy airport. These apple seed-sized insects, which feed on human blood at night, most often hide in mattresses and box springs and are carried in clothing and luggage.
