Climate activists from Germany are currently causing red heads in many places, especially with their road closures. But now a completely different danger could soon emanate from the activists, as experts warn.
Supporters of the “Climate Justice Movement” show solidarity with left-wing autonomists on the left-wing extremist platform “Indymedia”. They promise: “We know that we are all fighting the same fight because climate justice is not possible without anti-fascism and feminism. We will fight by your side on day X!”
With the “Day X” the group means the Saturday after the verdict against the left-wing autonomous Lina E. and three men. They are accused of forming a criminal organization.
Experts therefore warn against a merger of environmental activists and left-wing extremists. The President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Saxony, Dirk-Martin Christian, explains to the “Bild”: “Previous protests have shown that radicalization tendencies towards left-wing extremism are becoming apparent in the climate movement.”
In the case of individual climate activists, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution would find at least a certain lack of distance towards left-wing extremist positions, according to Christian. “There are forms of action up to serious criminal offenses that are not or only half-heartedly rejected by parts of the climate movement.”
The police are already preparing for day X with a large contingent of “violent riots”, according to the authorities.
