The pines of Scandinavia were chosen for their length of life, one can find well-preserved samples of them in the lakes and above all it is a species particularly sensitive to changes in climate.

Our trees in Belgium, for example, are less sensitive to it because the weather conditions are more favourable. They are therefore more influenced by other factors such as diseases or storms.

Cultivated trees are influenced by human activities, irrigation, cutting, plantations. The best climate recorders are those that grow in difficult areas or even at the edge of their life zone. If the weather is good, they grow.
