Clippers’ 2022-23 Season: Kawhi Leonard and Paul George Health Updates

2023-09-06 08:36:00

As often in recent years, the Clippers’ 2022-23 season ended with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in the infirmary. But if it’s any relief for fans of the Los Angeles franchise, the next one should start with the two stars on the court.

Giving updates on the health status of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George has almost become a national sport at Clipperland. But the last one has the merit of making Clips supporters smile, in any case those who still believe in the championship project started in 2019 when the two stars arrived in the City of Angels.

guest on the podcast of insiders Marc Stein and Chris HaynesClippers coach Tyronn Lue (currently in Manila with Team USA) has indeed given reassuring news about Kawhi and PG.

“They will be 100% for training camp. They are on track to be 100% at training camp. And that’s what we need, that our best players are in good health. We had an unfortunate situation in which our two best players couldn’t complete a full season together for the past three years, and it was difficult for us.

Big news coming out of Clippers land today:

Head coach Tyronn Lue said he expected both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to be 100% ready for the start of training camp at the end of September.

As a reminder, Paul George suffered a sprained knee at the end of the regular season and was therefore unable to participate in the 2023 Playoffs. As for Kawhi Leonard, he only played two games during the series of the first round against the Suns, before suffering a torn meniscus. Two injuries that add to the long list of sores that have hit the two stars over the past four years.

Barring the 2019-20 season, where the Clippers choke well in Orlando’s anti-COVID bubble, Kawhi and PG have never finished a season together. During the 2021 Playoffs, Leonard suffered a partial rupture of a cruciate ligament in the conference semifinals. In 2022, The Klaw suffered a missed season following the injury, while George missed several weeks with an elbow glitch. And no need to remind you what happened this season, you know it.

Result, in four years, the Clippers version Kawhi – PG have not done better than a conference final, a record far from the great ambitions announced by the owner Steve Ballmer at the time of the arrival of the two superstars. Can the scenario for the 2023-24 season finally be different?
