BAGAS Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri were eliminated from the 2024 Asian Badminton Championships and will certainly fail to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This certainty was because Bagas/Fikri lost to the Thai pair, Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren in a three-game battle 21-15, 16-21 and 17-21.
Head of PBSI Men’s Doubles Coach, Aryono, said that Bagas/Fikri’s pattern of play against Thailand was actually correct.
“They just lack patience. They can press and play with an attacking pattern. However, when the opponent has a strong defense, they are less resistant. On the other hand, when they are counter-attacked, they are lacking in defensive play,” said Aryono, Friday (12/4).
Aryono explained that in the competition to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Bagas/Fikir needed to put in extra effort.
To qualify for the Olympics, Bagas/Fikri must be able to reach the semifinals at the 2024 Asian Badminton Championships.
