BANGUN Pagi Pictures released the official poster for the horror film entitled Sofi’s Story by director Ivan Bandhito, which is ready to be shown in Indonesian cinemas in 2024.

“The main strength of the film Sofi’s Story, apart from the eerie ghost figure, is also added to the mystery that is finally revealed behind the terror that haunts this film,” said executive producer Jonathan HM in a written statement received, Friday (5/4).

This film tells the story of a character named Sofi and her four siblings who experience a tragic incident while on holiday in their hometown.

The negligence of one of them leads to haunting terror and a mystery that must be solved amidst the raging personal conflict and their reconciliation as a family.

This film poster shows a woman covered in blood and carrying a battered doll with the tagline ‘Why did you leave me?’ as part of the sneak peak behind the terror of the film Sofi’s Story.

The combination of dark colors and dramatic orange lighting creates a tense atmosphere and is intended to arouse the audience’s curiosity about the story in this film.

Director Ivan Bandhito said that creating a film outside the trend of the Indonesian horror genre, which is synonymous with village settings and religion as a moral identity, is something that is not easy to resist.

“However, I believe that any film genre must have subtitles with different styles, so that the understanding of a film genre is not narrow,” said Ivan.

According to him, many horror genre films also use subsections such as horror comedy, horror romance, horror thriller, psychological horror and others.

“Sofi’s story invites the audience to enter an eternal event where reason and logic need to be used to enjoy it,” he said.

This film also stars senior stars, namely Roweina Umboh, Ferry Salim and Egi Fedly, and Julian Kunto. Apart from that, there is also a cameo character played by Natasha Germania. (Ant/Z-1)
