Collective dismissal at the Maxi Toys logistics center in Houdeng: 92 jobs at risk

The Maxi Toys stores, taken over by the French company Kingtoy in 2020, will abolish their Belgian logistics center located in Houdeng, we learn from good union sources. 92 workers would have learned that they were going to lose their jobs during an extraordinary council which was held this Tuesday morning. According to other union sources, the number of employees threatened would rather be closer to the 80 workers in the logistics center, “as often in this kind of redundancy plan, there is always a risk of collateral victims (subcontractors, administrative workers, etc.)“In any case, this collective dismissal is synonymous with the activation of the Renault procedure.

Three years ago, the Logitoys logistics center in Hainaut had already been restructured when the group was taken over by Kingtoy. Thirty people were then made redundant and 6 stores closed. Today, Belgium has around twenty Maxi Toys stores.

The end date of the activity is not yet known. But the announcement should be made official next Monday.
