Bangalore: The pre-university and graduate colleges in Karnataka, which were closed due to the hijab controversy, have reopened under tight security. A curfew has been imposed in the city of Udupi and some educational institutions in other districts within a 200-meter radius. Six students who approached the high court seeking permission to wear the hijab did not attend college. However, on the second day after the schools reopened, some schools did not admit students wearing hijab.
Govt. A scuffle broke out between parents and teachers after high school students who did not wear headscarves were not allowed into the classroom. The parents demanded that the students be allowed to write the SSLC sample test. Following this, a day off was announced for the school.
Forty-three students from various schools in Mysore district who appeared for the SSLC examination failed to appear for the examination. At Nellihudigeri School in Kodagu, some students returned home after refusing to wear the hijab. The Karnataka High Court has issued an interim order barring students from wearing religious attire in colleges until a verdict is reached on the hijab issue.
