After presenting its “easy check out” system at the Hal store, Colruyt is looking into new technological solutions that will increase efficiency in the stores.

The chain of stores announces that the entire supply chain, starting from the arrival in the warehouse until the departure of the customer in store, will soon be completely digitized, we read in the columns of Gondola.

New technologies are constantly being developed and tested at Colruyt. Over the past month, new products have been tested in order to ensure optimal restocking on the shelves, but also to count the number of customers entering the store or to measure the degree of crowding at the checkouts. All of these new technologies should lead to improved customer service and enable employees to manage their time more efficiently.

Over time, Colruyt stores should therefore be equipped with all these new technologies. And they begin as soon as the customer arrives in the store: a passage counter placed at the entrance will make it possible to identify the number of customers who enter, completely anonymously. This technology is also being tested at the checkouts, in order to adapt the number of employees present according to the number of people. “For our customers, fast and efficient checkout is essential. Nobody likes to wait at the checkout. We are currently testing these people counters in our store in Halle”, explains Virginie Vandenperre, Head of Sales Services and Promotion at Colruyt.

” Many advantages ”

Another technology, which will ensure a constant and optimal replenishment of shelves, is also in the test phase. It is developed from A to Z by the innovation team at Colruyt Group.

Another novelty: the shelf scanner, a camera that scans the shelves and monitors the condition of the shelves. This will optimize in-store deliveries and analyze the appropriate placement of products on the shelves. All this again developed within Colruyt itself. And this technology is all the more advantageous for the consumer as well, since the products are recommended and delivered to the store on time, which guarantees a well-stocked shelf.

Colruyt is also working on a cleaning robot, which, as the name suggests, will clean the shelves. “These technologies have many advantages, both for customers and for Colruyt,” adds Virginie Vandenperre.
