El Comercio Launches Live Streaming Channel for Real-Time News and Entertainment
In a move that is set to redefine digital news consumption, El Comercio has announced the launch of its live streaming channel. Starting from Monday, July 7, the new platform will offer a blend of information, analysis, and entertainment, tailored specifically for the digital environment. This ambitious venture aims to expand El Comercio’s reach and provide users with a more dynamic and engaging news experience.
Daily Programming to Kickstart the Morning
From 9:00 AM, Monday to Thursday, the channel will air “We Have to Talk,” a political and international affairs program hosted by Paola Villar, a journalistic producer, and Maro Villalobos, the editor of Economy and Day 1 of El Comercio. The show will feature notable guests such as Martín Hidalgo, the editorial chief, on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Ariana Lira, the head of EC Data, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This interactive format seeks to engage the public with enjoyable analysis and relevant discussions.
“One More” – A Live Magazine for Youthful Perspectives
Following “We Have to Talk,” from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, the channel will broadcast “One More,” a live magazine show that addresses current issues from a youthful and close perspective. Led by influencer Jorge “Jorgeek” Ramírez, the program will feature comedian Héctor, streamer Umihyu, and fashion specialist Eli Morillo. This show aims to make the morning news feel like a conversation among friends, blending humor, culture, and information.
Expanding Digital Strategy
The new channel is part of El Comercio’s broader digital strategy, which has already established a strong presence on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter). With 3.8 million followers on TikTok and 1.6 million on Instagram, the platform is well-positioned to leverage its existing community. The live streaming channel will offer diverse formats, enriching the multimedia ecosystem with real-time interaction and dynamic content.
Upcoming Monthly Content
Every month, the channel will introduce new content. In August, “Pasa on the Street” will debut, a live citizen denunciation program led by Juan Pablo León, editor of the National Section. This show will travel different neighborhoods to report on issues often overlooked by traditional media. In September, as the electoral process begins, a new program dedicated to politics and general elections will launch, focusing on explaining, contextualizing, and analyzing the electoral landscape, especially for young audiences. Additionally, “Taquito,” the interview program dedicated to football, will return, featuring prominent sports figures and highlights.
Staying Ahead with Evergreen Insights
El Comercio’s new live streaming channel is not just about real-time news; it’s about building a community that stays informed and engaged. By combining timely discussions with expert insights, the platform ensures that viewers not only keep up with current events but also gain a deeper understanding of their broader implications. Whether it’s political analysis, citizen journalism, or sports interviews, the channel aims to provide a comprehensive news experience that resonates with its audience.
