Dubai > Companies violate noon break law in UAE. About 50 cases of violation of law have been found. Ministry officials said inspections conducted between June 15, when the midday break rule began, and the end of July found 47 cases of non-compliance. At the same time, it was found that most of the employers complied with the law. Workers should be given rest between 12.30 pm and 3 pm when the temperature rises to 40 degrees Celsius. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation reiterated that this is essential for the health of the workforce. The ministry said the main purpose of the midday break law is to prevent heat-related illnesses and protect workers’ rights. Officials said the law helped improve the work environment by preventing workers from working outdoors during extreme summer heat and reducing worker injuries. The midday break initiative will remain in effect till September 15 this year. Companies violating the rules will be fined Dh5,000 per worker. Last year, the ministry said it conducted 55,192 inspection visits across the country, with 99 percent compliance. 17,000 awareness visits were made to companies in the first six months of the year. Conducted workshops and distributed brochures to companies and labor accommodation camps. Read on deshabhimani.com
