Japan’s Tokyo Electric Power Company removed heavy equipment that was put into the construction of an undersea tunnel that discharged contaminated water today (26th). In other words, the tunnel construction is finished. What remains is the final inspection before discharge and the final report of the International Atomic Energy Agency investigation team the day after tomorrow. Despite objections from neighboring countries, Japan is proceeding as planned.

Tokyo Electric Power, which operates the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, has completed the construction of an undersea tunnel to be used for discharge of contaminated water.

TEPCO announced the completion of the work by releasing some photos of the excavator demolition using a large crane.

Contaminated water is scheduled to be discharged to the sea about 1km away from the Fukushima nuclear power plant through this tunnel, and the construction for marine discharge of contaminated water will be completed once the discharge port is covered.

The rest of the procedure is virtually one.

After the two-week trial run tomorrow, the final inspection by the Japan Nuclear Regulatory Commission will begin this Wednesday.

After this inspection, the discharge permit process is completely over.

When the final report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) investigation team in charge of verification is released sooner or later, Prime Minister Kishida will directly set the release schedule.

With the discharge of contaminated water imminent, Tokyo Electric Power’s nuclear power plant tour will start next month at the earliest.

TEPCO announced to JTBC that it would conduct a nuclear power plant tour to 10,000 people a year to publicize the safety of contaminated water.

They announced that they would receive about 3,000 people for tours in conjunction with travel agencies, and let the remaining 7,000 people tour the Fukushima nuclear power plant for free.
