freedom and peace are messages that concern us all, especially in our time. Be it sacred or secular, music can contribute to freedom and peace, in sounds and lyrics that shake us up and make us think about the state of our world. Song lyrics and music penetrate our ears into our hearts and can open them to hope and the pursuit of a world filled with freedom and peace.

CONCEPT

Under the motto freedom and peace The cooperation of the South Tyrolean Artists’ Association with the Catholic men’s, women’s and youth movement aims to promote the dialogue between music and religion, but also generally between music and the world, between world events and contemporary times, namely on topics and messages of peace that are understood and felt emerge that point beyond us and at the same time burn under our skin.

It is important to bring it into “language” as a sound painting in music.

Music should also be able to uncover undesirable developments in the area of tension between freedom and peace. The music should use its own means, themes and motifs to perceive the problems surrounding freedom and peace and describe and comment on them with sounds and texts. We expect music that affirms, that touches, that encourages, that disturbs and that allows what is otherwise not “spoken” or has become unspeakable to be heard. In this way, music becomes effective in a general dialogue between art and church.
