Every now and then, we see a random indie game take Steam by storm. Deadly Inc. is still in early access, but it’s clear that the game is already a hit with a lot of people. It currently ranks second on the Steam bestseller list, behind Steam Deck. That puts it ahead of Football Manager 2024, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and other top contenders. So, what makes this game so appealing? Well, there are many factors. First, it’s cheap, currently only £8.50 or about €10 on the Steam store. Additionally, it combines cooperative gameplay with some excellent horror mechanics. You and your friends are tasked with delving into abandoned moons in order to gather resources for your corporate overlords. There are also scary alien creatures on these moons that will wipe you out in no time if you’re not careful. You’ve probably seen clips online of players turning around and seeing their friends fall silent as unimaginable horror splits them in two. Chatting up close just adds another layer of horror/comedy, depending on how you look at it. Have you tried Lethal Company?
