Con 2 from Mbappé, PSG Vence in Lorient

Kylian Mbappé scored a double and contributed an assist as Paris Saint Germain beat Lorient 4-1 yesterday and is just a stone’s throw away from extending its record with a twelfth crown in League 1.

PSG stretched its lead at the top to 14 points with four games remaining. They could have been crowned yesterday but Monaco defeated Lille 1-0.

Those led by Luis Enrique aspire to a hat trick of titles in Mbappé’s last season with the club. They will face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals and will face Lyon in the French Cup final next month.

Ousmane Dembelé put PSG ahead in the 19th minute. Mbappé increased by finishing off a Nuno Mendes cross at will in the 22nd minute. The Frenchman created the third after dribbling past Nathaniel Adjei and then giving in to Dembelé, who finished with the goal unguarded.

Mbappé sealed the victory in the 90th minute with a curling shot that helped him consolidate himself as the league’s top scorer, now with 26 goals.

Lorient found consolation with Mohamed Bamba’s header in the 73rd minute.
