“noname” was a guest at the packed wuk and thrilled her audience from the first row to the last!

I was really looking forward to that Monday evening because I could finally see the much praised “noname”! The rapper was already a guest at Porgy & Bess in 2019, unfortunately the concert was sold out at the time and unfortunately I didn’t have a ticket. But this time I had a ticket and I was very, very happy that she hadn’t given up her career in the meantime.

In any case, I was there on time and was a bit surprised that not only I had made my way to WUK early, but also many other people. The well-filled concert hall was soon filled with songs by support artist “Lizzie Berchie“happy. The lady dressed in white appeared with a second musician and sang very soulfully and with an incredible amount of feeling. ‘Groove in slowly’ was the motto. In any case, “lizzie berchie” helped us a lot!

and at some point it was time for “noname“. Her appearance, her slightly stiff, angular movements and her first bars of rap were like a revelation. From the front to the back, from the security staff to the bar staff at the back, there was a collective “wow”. Seldom had spoken singing sounded so sonorous and so intense! Admittedly, given her history of wanting to quit music several times, I expected her to be a rather grumpy artist, but instead she appeared to be in an extremely good mood!

In addition to her good mood, she also gave us lots of piling songs that got bigger and more impressive the more “Noname” got into it and rapped about it. Most of the time the music in the background was rather unimportant; it was more the sound of her voice and her incredible sense of rhythm that really carried her away. I couldn’t help myself, I had to move! But it wasn’t just like that anymore – many other people couldn’t stand still, the music, or rather their style of chanting, drove us to move, drove us to lean in and listen reverently.

In very few moments, sometimes singing could almost be heard, but only almost. It was more like slow rap parts that mistakenly sounded like they were being sung. The audience then really sang and was encouraged to sing three tones, or rather, to hum. and it worked!

As quickly as “Noname’s” performance began, the evening ended just as quickly. During the last song, the rapper threw the words “everybody, I’m noname, thank you” at us, formed a heart with her hands and then disappeared. But that wasn’t a bad thing – I for one was just happy to finally have seen “noname” on a stage!
