Condemned by her doctors, she overcomes her cancer thanks to an experimental treatment

Jasmin was 51 when, in 2017, she was diagnosed with particularly aggressive breast cancer. The cancer had already spread to his rib cage and lymph nodes. In the hospital, the doctors gave him a year to live, at most.

This mother of two children then chained chemotherapy, radiotherapy and underwent a mastectomy. A heavy treatment but which got rid of this cancer… Until a scan carried out in 2019 revealed new lesions. The cancer had come back.

Two years of experimental treatment

It was then that Jasmin decided to take part in a clinical trial. She then began a treatment combining an experimental drug and the injection of an immunotherapeutic product (atezolizumab).

When she embarked on this clinical trial, she was absolutely not sure that it would work for her, she explains to the Manchester Evening News. “But it was at least something I could do for others, to use my body for future generations. »

After two years of this treatment and strong side effects (including “horrible headaches”), the good news came: the cancer was gone! “Two and a half years ago, I thought it was the end and now I feel like I’m reborn,” said Jasmin, who decided to take early retirement to enjoy life and its children.
