Confidences of a gaming hacker – L’Orient Today

Dear journal,

In August, it’s the holidays! And who says vacation says rest. So I didn’t rack my brain too hard. After all, simplicity is beauty, right?

It all started with an observation I made: right now, influencers have more and more visibility on social networks. So I thought of a brilliant plan: attack their accounts and do my propaganda on them. They post so much that they will see nothing but fire. Plus, they’re so busy doing other things that they hardly ever think of changing their passwords, and that’s where they’ll see me coming.

My technique of the month was very simple: I went to a forum that publishes lists of identifiers collected during major attacks and I was able to find those of a well-known sports influencer. Account information was leaked in an attack on a music app. Sneaky as I am, I tried his password on Instagram and bingo, voila! I very easily managed to break into his account without anyone suspecting anything. How reusing the same passwords on different accounts can play tricks on you…

As usual, following my success, I wanted to try my luck again. But unfortunately, I couldn’t reuse the same password on the account I was aiming for. It must surely belong to someone who respects security practices and therefore often changes passwords, while not using the same ones on different accounts.

Well me too, my techniques are changing! I haven’t said my last word, I’ll be back.

See you next time.
