The Italian company Eni announced on August 5, 2022 that it had acquired Tango FLNG to produce and export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Republic of Congo. The floating liquefaction plant built in 2017 begins its activities in the second half of 2023. The platform will thus be part of Eni’s operations of the natural gas development project in the Marine XII block. The Italian group says in a statement that Marine XII’s LNG production is expected to start in 2023 and, when fully operational, it will deliver volumes of more than 4.5 billion cubic meters per year.
