Thiruvananthapuram: Congress has used the incident of killing of young doctor Vandana Das in Kottarakkara taluk hospital as a propaganda weapon against the government. A campaign to change the cover image has also been started on social media, accusing ‘Bharana Koodem has been killed’.

Meanwhile, the government has also come up with measures to quell the protest of doctors over the killing of Vandana Das. The government has decided to issue an ordinance that will ensure strict punishment for attacks on health workers. The move is to amend the Hospital Protection Act and issue an ordinance.
The ordinance may be introduced in the next cabinet meeting. The decision in this regard was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in the context of the murder of Vandana Das. Health Minister Veena George has also directed to name the new block of Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital after Vandana Das as part of calming the protests.
