A 24-year-old filed a complaint with the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office against Conner Rousseau: “My client is the victim of sexual offences”, declared his lawyer.
On Wednesday, Conner Rousseau responded for the first time to rumors surrounding accusations of inappropriate behavior towards two teenagers by denying it. “This is ridiculous gossip and stuff taken out of context,” he said.
However, this Thursday morning, a 24-year-old man filed a complaint with the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office against Conner Rousseau, as reported by Het Laatste Nieuws. “We can confirm that we received a complaint this morning. From a content point of view, it still needs to be read and analyzed,” the prosecution told the media.

The complaint filed alleges sex offenses, although its exact content cannot be disclosed until it has been examined by the prosecution. The young man’s lawyer, Me Manon Cop, however gave some information: “My client is the victim of sexual offences. He realized that these were serious offenses and that he needed to file a formal complaint with the proper authorities.”
Manon Cop wants to avoid a media frenzy. “We explicitly ask that everything go as smoothly as possible and that the court do its job preserving my client’s privacy and all the rights of both parties,” she told the Flemish newspaper.
Conner Rousseau responds
The president of Vooruit did not initially wish to respond. He nevertheless decided to react to the complaint via a press release from his party taken up by Het Laatste Nieuws, not wishing to give any more interviews for the moment.

According to the Vooruit and Conner Rousseau, this is a “new example of witch hunting”. “Conner Rousseau has been the target of a deliberate campaign of hate and gossip for months. The announcement of a report to the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office is further proof of this. Rousseau or his lawyer have not yet been informed of the content by the prosecution”.
“Certain political and media personalities want to try to damage Conner Rousseau’s reputation with gossip, rumors and lies. They deliberately incite people to appeal to justice to give more weight to their slanders. Rumors are not new. They are part of what Rousseau himself called this week a witch hunt. There is nothing to add on this subject.”
“I stay on my positions”, repeats Conner Rousseau firmly. He insists once again on “the witch hunt and the role that certain journalists and media play in it”. Conner Rousseau and Vooruit plan to take legal action to bring those responsible to order.
