What is the 2022 Child Bonus in Chile?
According to the Undersecretary of Social Welfare, of the Ministry of Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (Mintrab)the Government of Chile, Through Law 20,255 on Social Security Reform, it gives women a bonus for each child born alive that they have. With this, it seeks to improve women’s pensions.
The 2022 Bonus per child is a contribution in money equivalent to 10% of 18 minimum incomes. This is deposited directly into the AFP of the woman. This subsidy is not paid at the time of the birth of the child, but together with her pension.

The Bonus per child 2022 is equivalent to 10% of 18 minimum monthly income, considering that:
- If the child was born before July 1, 2009, the minimum income of $165,000 will apply.
- If you were born after that date, the minimum income in force in the month and year of the child’s birth will be considered.

You should know that, in the case of adopted childrenthe benefit will accrue to both the biological mother and the adoptive mother.

Consult the 2022 live birth bonus: What are the requirements?
The requirements to consult Bonus per child 2022 are the following:
- Be 65 years of age. Regardless of whether you retire at age 60.
- That the woman is retired as of July 1, 2009.
- Residence in Chile. Having lived in Chile for 20 years (continuous or discontinuous) after the age of 20, and also having resided in Chile at least 4 years out of the last 5 years prior to application.
- And that is in one of the following cases:
- Affiliated with an AFP and not affiliated with another scheme.
- Beneficiaries of the Basic Solidarity Pension (PBS) or Solidarity Pension Contribution (APS) for Old Age.
- Women who, without being affiliated to a social security system, receive a survival pension and are entitled to a Solidarity Social Security Contribution (APS).
How and when do they pay the 2022 Live Born Child Bonus?
When a woman requests and is awarded the benefit, the total amount will be transferred to your AFP account and you will be paid monthly along with the Pension until the bonus runs out. That is, it is not paid in one go.

If I have never contributed to an AFP, am I entitled to the Child Bonus?
If you meet all the requirements, you can join an AFP and pay yourself at least one quote. So you can access this bonus that will increase your pension. If this is your case, consult with an executive before applying to assess whether this benefit does not interfere with others you may have.
Can I apply for the Child Bonus before the age of 65?
No, you can only request it when you turn 65 and as long as you meet the rest of the requirements.
