Parapanangadi (Malappuram) ∙ Thiroorangadi DEO has withdrawn the proposal to bring school students to the New Kerala audience due to widespread protests. The directive was withdrawn after the MSF workers besieged the office. PK Kunjalikutty MLA and opposition teachers’ unions came out against the decision. The DEO suggested that 200 students from Thanur and 100 students each from Tirurangadi, Vengara and Vallikunn constituencies should participate in the Navakerala assembly.

It was also specifically advised not to release the children who make trouble, only disciplined children should be released. The controversial proposal was made at a meeting of high school principals of the education district convened at the DEO office on Tuesday. It was also suggested that the school vehicles should be released if requested. At the same time, DEO T. M. Wickraman said in a press release that no instructions were given in the meeting and it was distorted.
