According to a report by China Central Broadcasting Network, some netizens recently revealed that the local Jiaowei Township Central Primary School in Xuwen County has made it mandatory for students to wear safety helmets to and from school whether they are taking a car, riding a motorcycle or walking. Ironically, this policy was originally supposed to take care of the safety of students who ride their parents’ motorcycles to and from school. In the explosive video, “almost no schoolchildren ride motorcycles,” and there are no motorcycles or electric two-wheelers on the road.
The primary school director kept a very low profile on this matter and only answered “it is true” before hanging up the media call. The Xuwen County Education Bureau claimed that “this is a unified regulation of the city” and has been implemented for more than a month, but emphasized that it does not force schoolchildren who walk or ride in cars to wear them to and from get out of class.
The Education Bureau also stated that the regulations of Jiaowei Township Central Primary School are indeed too strict, and the school has been notified to make adjustments to prevent the recurrence of students wearing safety helmets when walking and riding to and from school.
