Girardelli reacts annoyed
The statements of the two ski aces make five-time overall World Cup winner Marc Girardelli shake his head. “Idols like Shiffrin and Gut-Behrami should finally stop sawing the branch on which they themselves sit,” says the 60-year-old at “Blick”.
Ski legend Girardelli doesn’t want to know anything about the ecological concerns anyway: “I can assure Mikaela Shiffrin that snow is produced in Sölden using highly environmentally friendly technology.” Gut-Behrami also gets her fat: “You should remember that the Australian Open in tennis is also attracting great interest in Europe, even though this tournament is being held in our midwinter. “There is therefore no reason why TV viewers should not want to watch ski broadcasts when temperatures are higher.”

And most scientists will agree that salt can cause chemical burns to plants.”
Wörndl compares ecology with war tanks
Nevertheless, Wörndl is convinced that today’s generation of ski racers discuss sustainability in their sport too often: “When I think about how much damage all the tanks that are currently being used in wars do to the environment, that’s what comes up Skiing happens, like a trivial matter.”
Environmental discussions or not: the ski season starts on October 28th. The women’s giant slalom is on the agenda in Sölden on Saturday, before Odermatt and Co. compete for the first points on Sunday.
