The Selectivity exam for the subject of Valencian this year has sparked controversy for its repercussion A crucial negative for some students in Alicante, especially students from the Miguel Hernández institute, due to the low grades they have obtained despite having brilliant records, including their knowledge of the co-official language.

There have been several young people who felt harmed by a rigor in the evaluation that does not correspond to the level that they have accredited throughout the course and throughout the Baccalaureate, for which they demanded a revision of the review. As no one has managed to improve their qualification by even one tenth and they have had to settle, for example, with a six -when they had achieved an eight before arriving at the EBAU- they suspect that the court teachers have not complied with their request to look at their tests again, as is their right.
In this way, the Valencian subject has become decisive in stopping the projection of these students, who after covering their stage in the Baccalaureate in some cases with the highest recognition -the extraordinary prize– They are limited when it comes to choosing a career at the University due to this controversial exam.
An episode that can feed the debate from language in the classrooms in the province, where voices have been raised against the growing demands for knowledge of Valencian, from some entities of the educational community, the case of AMPA and teachers, such as the Platform of Teachers for Linguistic Freedom or Languages and Education.
From these groups of professionals and parents they demand that the learning of Valencian be encouraged without imposing it as a vehicular language or a requirement to access the Public Service. In this last aspect, ABC has revealed a few days ago the paradigmatic case of a researcherrecognized internationally that he cannot opt for a stable position in Alicante -where he was born and has his family- because he does not have the Valencian title, which prevents him from even registering.
