Conversation with Hübner about the Taliban trip in the next few days

The trip by former FPÖ politicians to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which was also criticized within the FPÖ, is about to be dealt with internally. A conversation with ex-National Council member Johannes Hübner requested by party leader Herbert Kickl will take place “in the next few days,” said Hübner himself when asked by the APA. The party said there was no appointment yet with ex-EU MP Andreas Mölzer, who was also present in Kabul.

Hübner and Mölzer traveled to Kabul last week – according to the FPÖ on their own initiative – and were photographed with the local “foreign minister”. The party leadership did not react calmly to the visit; Kickl himself did not rule out expulsion from the party. But first he wanted to talk to Hübner in particular, said the FPÖ chairman. Hübner himself only confirmed that this would happen in the next few days. He did not want to comment on the content of the trip.

Mölzer appeared more in a chatting mood to the “Kronen Zeitung”. He said he was surprised that Kickl had described him as a “political pensioner”. But he doesn’t take his party leader’s criticism of the trip “that seriously.” The Taliban regime even partially defended Mölzer. Those in power there have “learned something and are trying to create security.” The Taliban themselves are critical of the fact that women are excluded from universities.

Meanwhile, “profil” reported that a possible exclusion of Mölzer will be discussed at the upcoming regular meeting of the Carinthian state party executive committee, which is formally responsible for this. However, party chairman Erwin Angerer denied this in advance when asked by the APA. But it could be that Mölzer or his trip would be discussed under “anything”. “But I don’t see any need at the moment,” said Angerer.

The Kabul trip has already had its first consequences in the FPÖ. Axel Kassegger resigned from his role as foreign policy spokesman. He was originally supposed to have been part of the Kabul delegation. Club boss Herbert Kickl acknowledged Kassegger’s decision “benevolently”.
