The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is holding a cooperation meeting with local governments in the metropolitan area to speed up the GTX project. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to complete the GTX-A comprehensive test run within this year as well as the B and C route projects without delay through the council.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs announced on the 11th that it plans to form and operate the ‘Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Local Government GTX Council’ attended by directors of related local governments such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do from the 12th. This is a follow-up to the timely opening plan for GTX included in the business report of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 3rd.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained, “We have formed a council to unify the communication channels that have been carried out individually with each department of the local government for each field, and to support close consultations and prompt decision-making between agencies.” At the quarterly meeting, the status of the GTX project will be shared and suggestions will be made to local governments.

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs plans to complete a comprehensive test run and tunnel excavation for the privately funded section of the GTX-A route within this year in order to shorten the commuting time in the metropolitan area to 30 minutes. The design of the financial section of Line B will begin this month, and the process of selecting a preferred bidder for the privately funded section will be completed. Route C will be completed within this year after completing the private sector qualification review next month, concluding a concession agreement and starting construction. As for the new routes, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to prepare plans for each route by June and complete the preliminary feasibility study within the term.

Eo Myeong-so, 2nd Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “In order to carry out major projects such as the priority opening of the GTX-A Suseo-Dongtan section next year and the start of construction on Line B, we must concentrate all our capabilities and make thorough preparations this year.” “GTX issues that were difficult to solve alone will be able to be resolved wisely if we discuss closely with Seoul City, Incheon City, and Gyeonggi Province.”
