Vienna (OTS) Vienna’s Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky welcomes the agreement at the World Climate Conference on a final document in which the move away from fossil energy sources coal, oil and gas is mentioned for the first time. “Despite difficult conditions and the massive presence of the fossil fuel lobby, the train has set off towards a global exit from oil, gas and coal. That makes me optimistic. Now it’s about setting a good example as a coalition of ambitious people and putting our words into action,” said Czernohorszky.

“Austria must take responsibility. In order for us to achieve the Paris climate goals, we need bolder steps and a binding legal framework for phasing out fossil energy in this country. The World Climate Conference gives us the motivation to continue to build up the necessary pressure so that the ÖVP’s blockade crumbles,” said Czernohorszky.
