In a room of the old school on rue Charles-Malard, in Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine), Fabienne takes out her coloring book while Marie is already at work, armed with her pastels.

“Everyone does at their own level”

Both participate in the exchange of knowledge organized two Mondays per month by Couleur Partage.

The association has existed for more than ten years. Initially, it was created jointly by the Groupement d’Entraide Mutuelle, Yann Labbé and me. We worked together for a year before becoming an association of painters.

The objective pursued by the association is twofold: to bring together artists from all backgrounds and to hold exhibitions with those who wish.

“Every fortnight, the exchange of knowledge allows us to share with others. It’s an opportunity to see other techniques, other artistic approaches, but it’s also for the pleasure of getting together,” describes Nelly Breton.

“There is an osmosis, a synergy. This brings new motivation,” says Marie.

Participants paint or draw, “creation for some, reproduction for others” and use a variety of techniques. “Watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, collage…there’s everything,” smiles Nelly Breton.

Couleur Partage now has eighteen members, and is open to everyone, even beginners, “everyone does at their own level”.

“We also participate in Christmas markets and designer markets,” emphasizes Nelly. For the former, small creations in fabric or knitting, very popular, are made.

A collegial direction

Nelly Breton has been the legal representative of the association since the beginning. She draws and paints “especially nature”, her favorite theme. Within Couleur Partage, there is no president; decision-making is done collegially. Besides Nelly, four members are part of the office: Chantal, Geneviève, Guylène and Stéphane.

Artists regularly exhibit their work at the Maison de Savigny, at the social center, or at the Ateliers. “There is sometimes a theme, but not always” and if the exhibitions are collective, everyone selects what they want to present from their own paintings.

Currently, eight members are presenting their works, visible until February 29, at the tourist office-Destination Fougères.
