Today, Tuesday, the Economic Misdemeanor Court, headed by Counselor Ibrahim Saleh, ruled that Counselor Mortada Mansour be imprisoned for 3 months in his presence and set a bail of 10,000 pounds.
Muhammad Othman, the legal advisor to Al-Ahly Club, wrote on his Facebook account, “The so-called Mortada Ahmed Mansour was imprisoned for 3 months, bailed 10,000 pounds, fined 20,000 pounds, and obliged to pay temporary compensation of 10,000 pounds,” in Case 728 of 2023.
Mortada Mansour is legally entitled to appeal the ruling of the first instance on appeal before the Economic Court of Appeal.
Muhammad Othman, the lawyer, submitted a report to the Public Prosecutor in his capacity as the representative of Captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club. In his lawsuit, Mortada Mansour was accused of committing crimes of slander, insulting the reputation of families, defamation of honor, spreading false news and misusing social media.
The communication included that the crime of insulting and slander took place during a sports program on August 18 of last year, following the issuance of a final, enforceable ruling that imprisoned him for one month with hard labour.
Mortada Mansour had served a one-month sentence in Wadi al-Natrun prison after being convicted by the Court of Cassation of insulting and slandering Mahmoud al-Khatib.
