The virus is in very slight decline, while monkeypox follows the opposite trend according to the last point of theARS of New Aquitaine.

Hospital tension at 0

Last week, Charente-Maritime had dropped above 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (168). This week, this slow decline is confirmed. The incidence rate is around 156.

New data has just come into play. Often scrutinized closely, hospital tension is 0%, against 13 at the last health point.

To date, 83 patients are hospitalized due to Covid-19 contamination. On the other hand, there is no longer anyone in intensive care.

Monkey pox on the rise

All reported cases in the region were male. The latter were aged 16 to 63 years with a median age of 38 years.

Monkeypox or monkey pox?
Monkey pox (or simian pox) is a rare infectious disease caused by the Monkeypox virus. It is mainly transmitted by rodents
to humans, then from person to person by close contact or droplet. Monkeypox virus infection causes a rash
blistering which is accompanied, in some cases, by fever, headache, fatigue and body aches. The disease is most often cured
spontaneously, after 2 to 3 weeks.
