Thiruvananthapuram: Strict control in the state from midnight today following the Kovid surge. Similar restrictions will be implemented for Lockdown tomorrow. Only essential services will be allowed. Inspections were also tightened at state borders. Police checks will be tightened from midnight today. Only parcels are available from hotels. Only 20 people can attend the funeral and wedding. The exams scheduled to be conducted by PSC tomorrow have also been postponed. All the eight trains operating in the state have been canceled as part of the Kovid restrictions. Following the record TPR, the Department of Health has decided to reserve more hospital beds exclusively for Kovid treatment.

Test positivity remains high in the state. When 95218 samples were tested yesterday, 41668 were positive. The test positivity is 43.76%. Ernakulam has the highest TPR (50.86 per cent). As test positivity increased, the Department of Health moved to convert more hospital beds to Kovid treatment only.
