The national government, through decree 337/2023 and publication in the Official Gazette, created the “Cerro Pistarini” Educational Nature Reserve, which covers a 450-hectare property with great biodiversity.

The reserve is located within the Embalse Tourist Unit, administered by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, and will be in charge of National Parks, an organization that will guard and manage the place.

The initiative aims to develop comprehensive environmental education activities, under the terms of Law 27,621 for the Implementation of Comprehensive Environmental Education.

In addition, the teaching of the values ​​of protection of natural resources, landscapes and environments free from disturbance by human causes for a prolonged period of time.

In turn, the creation of the reserve will contribute to the prevention of forest fires and fire management in the area.

The creation seeks to benefit the local community above all through the generation of jobs that are linked to tourist activity and the promotion of teaching and learning for educational establishments of all levels and modalities.

The use of the reserve space will also be an open classroom for carrying out activities, including the training of park rangers and brigade members.
