The Universités des communicants en Église (UCE), together with the Media Commission of the French Bishops’ Council, organizes meditations in various locations for media workers, monasteries and Catholic institutions working in their dioceses. This provides an opportunity to share how they can make their work more effective. This special initiative was held in Rome to prepare them for the 2025 Jubilee of Hope.

During her stay in Rome, she met with several Vatican representatives. Among them are Archbishop Reno Fisichella, the head of the Dicastery for New Evangelization, which is in charge of organizing the Jubilee, and the Undersecretary of the Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops, C. Contains Nathalie et al.

Due to difficulty in speaking, Papa was delivering the written sermon to them.

The Pope highlighted the importance of their service, noting the challenges of communicating the good news in an over-connected world. Taking a few days off from work to “share, pray and listen” could help church media workers understand how to face these challenges, the Pope suggests in his prepared speech.

It will help us to find the roots of what we share, the truth we are called to bear witness to, the unity in Jesus that unites us, and also to realize that the purpose of our sharing is not our personal strategies or arguments. The Pope also reminded us not to focus everything on technological progress.

Catholic communication work is not propaganda, it is the care of others, so the communication should not only be from the heart but also overturn worldviews and sectarianism. The Pope underlined the need for evangelical radicalism in today’s communication, which is polluted with dangerous words, the dream of power and glorification.

After noting that Catholic communicators must be able to give a Christian interpretation to the events taking place in the world, the Pope explained that Christian witness, the courage to share the Gospel and a vision to see the distance are the three main things they should keep in mind.

“Everything will be clear if our communication starts from the heart that sees with love”, the Pope concluded.
