Almost two years after announcing its departure from the watchmaking metropolis, Credit Suisse is making its return to La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE). The number two Swiss bank will reopen a branch there from Monday.
The new sign, still installed on avenue Léopold-Robert, responds to a new concept, more focused on personalized advice than on counter operations, Credit Suisse said on Friday.
Customers will be received by appointment, with a space equipped with an ATM accessible 24 hours a day.

The closure in August 2020 of the former branch of Credit Suisse in La Chaux-de-Fonds had caused quite a bit of misunderstanding in local economic circles, due in particular to the presence of a large client. The Zurich bank then backtracked by announcing its return in September 2021.

At the time, in 2020, the disappearance of the Chaux-de-Fonnière branch was part of a plan by Credit Suisse to abandon 37 branches out of 146 on Swiss soil. The old premises have since been taken over by a French banking establishment.
