1:30 a.m., night of Thursday 25 to Friday 26 May 2023. At the emergency call center, the telephone rings: a car is on fire in rue de Marchienne, in downtown Charleroi. Luckily, a local police patrol is 30 seconds away, on the Place de la Digue.
The police find a white Range Rover, half on fire, near homes. They seize a fire extinguisher and manage to put out the fire before being joined shortly after by firefighters from the Hainaut-East rescue zone.
Insurance scam, vandalism, revenge? The fire is in any case criminal, without a shadow of a doubt: fire starters were found on a wheel and at the level of the engine. Someone wanted this Range Rover to burn down.
