It’s hard to believe this week, but spring is almost here. The first crocuses and snowdrops are already blooming. Many places in Bydgoszcz are planted with bulb plants. The flowers will delight Bydgoszcz residents until late autumn.
On Sunday, we experienced a sunny touch of spring, but then the winter-autumn cold and rain returned. As a consolation – there are only two weeks left until the calendar spring, and in the city you can see spring signs of nature waking up to life.
In previous years, a number of squares and greenery in road lanes were planted with perennial bulb plants (narcissi, tulips, snowflakes, hyacinths, crocuses). They are the first to herald the arrival of spring with crocuses already blooming in many places. We have already seen them at the monument of Casimir the Great and on the square. Teatralny and in flower pots on the Old Market Square (photos in the gallery). Multi-species compositions of bulb plants can be seen, among others: on:

The first plants are coming to life, and every day there will be even more of them. Bydgoszcz’s representative parks and squares will be decorated with compositions of pansies, geraniums, begonias, roses and ornamental grasses. They will bloom not only in spring.
Flower arrangements will change with the seasons. In spring they will bloom, among others: pansies and daisies, in summer: begonias, sages, geraniums, scevola, Patagonian verbena, ipomea, iresin and impatiens, and in the fall there will be plenty of heather and ornamental cabbages. In amplifiers suspended from stylish street lamps in the Old Town and at ul. Cieszkowski, ivy-leafed geraniums and dorotheanthus will hang spectacularly.
The white and yellow carpet of pansies has already been planted at ul. Trybunalska, next to the monument of Casimir the Great. Colorful flower arrangements will also appear, among others:
– in flowerpots in the Old Market Square and in front of the town hall – yellow pansies,
– in Jan Kochanowski Park – yellow, white and blue pansies, blue forget-me-not and pink daisies,
– in flowerpots near Sielanka and al. Ossolińscy – pansies, daisies, forget-me-nots.
Intensive cleaning works are underway in the city, carried out by employees of the Forest Park of Culture and Recreation in Myślicinek and ProNatura, including on Młyńska Island and in parks along Ossolińskich Avenue. Necessary maintenance cuts are being carried out in the woodlots and shrub beds. Rose beds were prepared for summer – maintenance cuts were made (around Rondo Bernardyńskiego, Wały Jagiellońskie). In March, further flowerbeds will be cut and maintenance work will be carried out, including fertilization with multi-component mineral fertilizer that stimulates the flowering of roses.
