Technicians from the Ministry of Culture and Sport advise against the temporary transfer of the Lady of Elcheas claimed by the council of the town of Alicante, because the piece is in a state of “tight balance” that could be altered in case of environmental changes.
The report published by the ministry headed by Miquel Iceta warns that It is a “delicate” piece from the point of view of conservation, to the point of having discarded its cleaning and consolidation “to avoid greater evils”.
In addition, they point out that the climatology of Madrid “allows good preventive conservation for pieces such as the Lady of Elche”, while contamination, cited as pernicious on occasions, “is non-existent” in the building of the National Archaeological Museum since the 2014 reform.
