The National Health Commission said on Sunday that mainland China recorded 982 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, of which 129 were asymptomatic and 853 were asymptomatic.
The Chinese mainland had recorded 817 new infections the previous day, of which 164 were asymptomatic and 653 were asymptomatic.
And China Central Television said that Shanghai, the financial center of China, recorded three new local infections with symptoms, compared to two cases a day earlier, and 21 new local infections without symptoms, compared to 16 the previous day.
Government data showed that the capital, Beijing, did not record any new local infections. No new deaths were recorded, leaving the number of deaths unchanged at 5,226. The Chinese mainland has so far recorded 228,648 confirmed cases with symptoms.
