The Central Bank of Syria officially reduced the value of the Syrian pound against the US dollar by more than 30 percent in the “Banks” bulletin, while maintaining its price in the “Remittances and Exchange” bulletin.

The bank bulletin issued by the Syrian Central Bank showed that the value of the dollar increased by more than two thousand Syrian pounds at once, from 6 thousand and 532 to 8 thousand and 542 pounds, an increase of more than 30 percent.

The value of the lira against the dollar mentioned in the bulletin is considered the official price that is traded for commercial transfers from abroad, as well as between private banks that are allowed to deal in dollars with a license from the Central Bank.

The dollar exchange rate in the bulletin also applies to the 100 dollars that the government of the Syrian regime imposes on citizens coming to their country from abroad.

On the other hand, the Syrian Central Bank maintained the value of the lira in the “Remittances and Exchange” bulletin at 9,900 against the dollar for the second day in a row, despite the dollar reaching the threshold of 13,000 pounds on the black market, as the bulletin is supposed to price the value of personal transfers at a price close to the price of the dollar on the black market.

The Syrian Central Bank had stopped issuing the “Remittances and Exchange” bulletin since the middle of last week, due to the dominance of the decline in the value of the lira against the dollar on the black market, and its reaching a new low of 13 thousand per dollar.

The Central Bank’s decision to amend the “banks” bulletin came after the series of losses suffered by the lira in the black market, which means that the dollar will remain at its high levels and will not be reduced to levels close to the previous one, as the bulletin is considered an instrument of recognition by the Central of its inability to intervene in favor of improving the value of the lira.

As for the black market, the lira trading market against foreign currencies is witnessing a temporary calm on Monday, and the lira has made some slight gains starting from Sunday night, reaching about 500 lira in Damascus, and the same in Aleppo, to settle at 12 thousand and 100 lira per dollar.

The selling price of the dollar had touched the threshold of 13 thousand on Sunday afternoon in Aleppo, while the selling price in Damascus reached 12 thousand and 600 Syrian pounds.
