By mid-May, more than 33 thousand infected people had already been registered there, while in the first two weeks of May the number of patients increased by 4 thousand people. Since the beginning of the year, 20 people have died from dengue. In addition, rainy May promotes the reproduction of mosquitoes – carriers of this dangerous disease.
Local authorities ask tourists to be careful and, if possible, not to visit the epicenters of the outbreak – Gampaha district and the jurisdiction of the Colombo Municipal Council, reports “TurProm”.
