Dark and Darker developer faces charges of stealing assets from former workplace

Ironmace, the developer behind the upcoming PvPvE fantasy game Dark and Darker, is facing allegations that some of its employees stole assets from Japanese publisher Nexon.

Nexon claims that it once hired some of the people who now work at Ironmace, and those employees are developing a title called P3. The guy who now works at Ironmace allegedly stole those assets from P3 before leaving to make Dark and Darker, and used them to help create the upcoming game.

If this turns out to be true, Nexon could take legal action because it would mean Ironmace employees violated confidentiality agreements and trade laws. However, Ironmace CEO Terence Seung-ha has denied these claims.

“I want to address certain rumors that have started to circulate and reassure fans of Darkness and Darkness,”Seung-ha in the game’sOn the Discord serverexplain.“Absolutely no stolen assets or code were used to make our games. Our code was built from scratch. Most of our assets were purchased from the Unreal Marketplace. All other assets and all game design documents are at Created internally. This has been audited by an external agency. As far as we know, you cannot copyright a game genre. Regarding the lawsuit, we believe it is a separate personal matter brought by one of our team members. No complaints against Ironmace File a lawsuit.

Dark and Darker was recently available in a new playtest, and even before that, it caught hundreds of eyes.

Are you looking forward to Dark and Dark?
