“De-agriculturalize”? A neologism by Mrs. Sylvie Brunel in Atlantico

« Se de-agriculturalize »? A neologism by Mrs. Sylvie Brunel in Atlantic

Gleaned from the canvas 975

The International Agricultural Show is an opportunity for certain media to call – in the case ofAtlantic even more than usual – feathers in support of French agriculture, in other words our food.

So here’s ” Sylvie Brunel: “After being deindustrialized, France seems well on its way to deagriculturizing” ».

We will wish – without holding our breath – that she is wrong…

In capo:

« Farmers have guaranteed us safe and quality food, which has become so obvious to us that we are constantly putting obstacles in their way, imposing standards, prohibitions and controls that discourage them. »

Ms. Sylvie Brunel answered the following questions:

« Atlantic : You post”Feeding: Let’s stop mistreating those who make us live!” at Buchet Chastel editions. On the occasion of the opening of the Agricultural Show, and when we have never needed farmers so much, why are they so mistreated? Why have they become scapegoats Is it related to the ideology of the most radical climate activists?

If we look at the agricultural world in the broad sense, what are the main mistakes made in this area?

How problematic is this? Who are the responsibles ?

How do you get agriculture back on track and stop making mistakes that can still be fixed?

The third question is intelligible only if we know the answer to the second:

« Banning them from treatments as parasite pressure worsens with globalization and climate change. But also genetic engineering to quickly find the varieties best suited to new growing conditions. For us the RNA vaccines, for them the smile!

Prohibit irrigation when the water is going to be lost in the sea and when we are the record country in the world for the number of private swimming pools (moreover treated…). Talking about megabasins where it is a question of substitute reserves that provide water for everyone, for birds, insects, biodiversity… and above all quality food by storing carbon. It is a tragic mistake to want only rain-fed, local, small-scale and traditional agriculture… »

And here is the answer to the last question:

« First of all, those who feed us and make us live must be respected. We must meet them to understand the technicality and difficulty of their job, and be grateful to them for protecting us from deadly diseases such as mycotoxins, for ensuring safe, healthy, varied, quality food… and affordable. While providing energy, landscape and climate responses. And we must favor French origin in our purchases, to remain consistent with our social and environmental requirements! Without this essential reconciliation, France, after having deindustrialized, but having returned to the principle of reality in energy, will inevitably deagriculturalize and join the immense group of countries without food sovereignty. Who depend on Biden or Putin for food. France still has the chance to be part of the very small group of countries exporting cereals but also seeds and potatoes, where it occupies the first place in the world. Without obviously mentioning dairy products, wines and spirits, our exceptional gastronomy. It would be a serious mistake to lose this power. All forms of agriculture are complementary and necessary, but above all we have to make this profession attractive again. Let’s establish an agricultural civic service so that young people who want to save the planet understand that they can contribute to it in agriculture, fully committed to its green revolution! »

This discourse is not new. You might want to add: Alas! But how good it is to hear it again!

You can also listen to it in C in the Air.
